The location of the NordiCHI venue at Lindholmen is central in Gothenburg:
- The best way to get to Lindholmen is by the Älvsnabbare ferry (nr 286) between Stenpiren (city center) and Lindholmspiren in 4 minutes for FREE between 07.00-19.00 (green flag). Stenpiren is just a 10 minute walk from the central train station.
- The bus ride with bus nr 16 from the Central station is only 16 minutes.
- It is possible to take the ELECTRIC bus nr 55 ( http://www.goteborgelectricity.se/en )
- By car, Gothenburg Landvetter Airport is 35 minutes away.
- The Älvsnabben ferry (nr 285) takes you across the river between Lilla Bommen – Stenpiren (city center) and Lindholmspiren for one ticket (red flag). Sails from 6.30-00.20

Fly
The international airport Landvetter (GOT) is located 20 kilometres south-east of the city centre and you can travel from various destinations in Europe and the world. Please note that the smaller Göteborg City Airport (GSE) is no longer in use for commercial flights and will be phased out as from the winter 2015.
Airport transfer
It’s easy to get to and from the airport with the shuttle bus service Flygbussarna and the journey time is between 25 and 30 minutes. Buses leave from right outside the terminal building and the final stop is the main bus station Nils Ericssonterminalen in central Gothenburg. Taxi or rental cars are also available at the airport.

Train
SJ, Västtrafik, Öresundståget, Tågab, NSB and Blå tåget are running frequent services to and from the central station in Gothenburg, connecting the city with the Scandinavian capitals Stockholm, Oslo and Copenhagen. The journey times are just under 4 hours from Oslo, around 3 hours from Stockholm and 3,5 hours from Copenhagen. The trains from Denmark stop at Copenhagen international airport, making it a convenient option to fly there and catch the train to Gothenburg.
NOTE: Trains from Copenhagen currently have ID controls by the border, which might cause some delay.
Bus
The bus terminal Nils Ericssonterminalen is serviced by long distance and express bus companies like Swebus, Nettbus and Bus4you. You can easily get travel to Gothenburg from major cities in Sweden and Scandinavia. The journey time is around 3,5 hours from Oslo, 6,5 hours from Stockholm, 3,5 hours from Malmö and 5 hours from Copenhagen. Travel by bus in West Sweden with public transport company Västtrafik.
GETTING AROUND TOWN
The Göteborg City Card includes free use of buses, trams and boats in Gothenburg. The card also includes free entrance to many attractions, such as the amusement park Liseberg, the science and discovery centre Universeum as well as most of the museums and much more.
Taxi
Taxis can be hailed in the streets. Prices vary from company to company. Ask for a fixed price when travelling to or from the airport, but should be around 400-500SEK.

Cykelstaden (Bike route planner)
The bike route planner is unfortunately only available in Swedish. However, it includes maps, bike rental stations and basic service stations. The app is mainly icon-based so might be useful when biking in Gothenburg, even though in Swedish.

Boats and ferries
There’re two routes which takes you across and along the river Göta älv. Boats to the southern car-free islands depart from Saltholmen in west Gothenburg while the car ferry to the northern islands depart from Lilla Varholmen in north-west Gothenburg
- The Älvsnabbare ferry takes you across the river between Stenpiren and Lindholmspiren. It’s free, so you don’t need a ticket.
- The Älvsnabben ferry takes you along the river, from Lilla Bommen to Klippan, via Stenpiren, Lindholmspiren, Slottsberget and Eriksberg. The ferry is included in your regular bus and tram ticket.
- From Saltholmen there’re several boats departing for the south archipelago islands and the regular tram and bus ticket is valid, on all boats.
- From Lilla Varholmen there’re car ferries heading for the northern archipelago islands. These are free, so you don’t need a ticket, even if you bring your car.
You’re allowed to bring a bike on all boats and ferries, both in the archipelago and on the river.

Bicycle
The bike rental system Styr & Ställ makes it easy to rent a bike in Gothenburg. There are over 50 rental stations around the city and you can pick up and leave your bike at any of them.
When you rent a bike, the first 30 minutes are always free, no matter how many times you rent a day. The second half hour cost you 10 SEK and the third 20 SEK. The fourth half hour and longer thereafter costs you 40 SEK for every started half hour.
The 3-day card is usually suitable for most visitors. The card costs 25 SEK and is purchased at any of the rental stations using a debit or credit card. Apart from the 25 SEK there will be a deposit of 140 SEK on your card and you’ll be charged in case you exceed the 30-minute rule. In other words, if you keep within the rule you’ll only pay 25 SEK, in total.
Car and parking
Parking
You’ll find several parking garages and other paid parking spots in and around Gothenburg. No matter if you park your car in a garage, street parking or any other paid parking spot you can always pay using coins, 10, 5 and 1 SEK coins are valid. Some parking meters also accept debit or credit card, but not all.
Congestion charge
In Gothenburg there’s a congestion charge for all national and international vehicles. The congestion charge applies when driving in/out and through Gothenburg on Monday-Friday between 06:00 and 18:29. In other words you don’t have to pay on Saturdays, weekends, the day before holiday or during July, which is an exemption and also free of charge. The car-owner is automatically invoiced
